Skyline Server


Skyline Server pre-installation requirements
  • Skyline is to be installed locally at the customer premises.
  • Hardware and software for the Skyline Server must be pre-installed as follows:
Server Hardware and Operating System It is recommended that Skyline is installed on a dedicated Server. Please Note: Some Skyline processes, such as the creation of PDF’s, can create peaks in CPU demand and RAM requirements. If other applications were to be loaded on the same server, this could result in CPU resources or RAM not being available at the times Skyline needs them, and could result in intermittent errors.

Operating Systems:
  • Microsoft Windows Server 2003 or 2003 R2
  • Microsoft Windows Server 2008 or 2008 R2***
    • 32 or 64 bit or Microsoft Windows Server 2008 or 2008 R2 32- or 64-bit. When using 64-bit, Skyline must be run in 32-bit mode.
Note:
  • If the Skyline Server is to utilise Microsoft Windows Server 2008 or 2008 R2 please contact ePrint for additional information and requirements.
  • The i386 directory should be copied from the Windows installation disk to the server’s Data Drive
  • Web Browser – Microsoft Internet Explorer 8* and/or Firefox 3.x
  • 2 GB of server class RAM minimum, 4 GB recommended
  • 2.5 GHz processor or faster. Multiple processors are supported
  • DVD drive
  • VMware Server is supported as long as the required CPU and RAM resources are allocated to it
Applications:
  • Microsoft Office 2007 Professional*** (this must be a full activated installation with all latest service packs and security updates - please see http://www.eprint.net/manuals/Skyline_Installation_Manual/default.htm) Access to the Microsoft Office installation files will be required during the installation of Skyline. This disk should be left in the disk drive or copied to the Data Drive.
  • Microsoft SQL 2005 Standard or Express with the latest service packs. (Microsoft SQL 2005 Standard or Express is supplied as part of the Skyline Installation set).
  • Adobe Acrobat Reader (latest version)
  • .Net Framework 3.5 SP1
  • Microsoft Silverlight (required for 3D visualisation of templates created by Skyline TemplateManager™)
  • SQL Management tools (optional but recommended)

  • Web Browser – Microsoft Internet Explorer 6, 7 or 8* and/or Firefox 3.x

  • Port 80 open with access to the internet
  • DVD drive
Dependent upon the quantity of Skyline PrintStation™ licenses purchased, the Skyline PrintStation™ may be installed on one or more PC’s in the print room(s).
